How to threshold images online?

You can do circular threshold as well as rectangular threshold.

Images can be thresholdmed having transparent or white background.

  • Add all files you want to threshold either by drag and drop section or choose file by click on input area.
  • Enter threshold value in percentage. Default value is 30%.
  • Select the color channel.
  • Click on Threshold button to threshold and download the thresholded file.
  • You can click on reset button if you want to threshold new file.
What is image thresholding?
  • The `threshold` operation is used to convert an image to a high-contrast, black and white (binary) image. It does this by setting all pixels below the provided threshold value to black and all pixels above the threshold to white.
  • The threshold value is a percentage. For example, a threshold of 50% means that all pixels with a brightness less than or equal to 50% will be set to black, and all pixels with a brightness greater than 50% will be set to white.
  • Please note that the `threshold` operation is a form of image segmentation. It's often used in image processing tasks where you need to separate the foreground of an image from the background.
What are the uses of image thresholding?
  • The `threshold` operation has several uses, particularly in image processing and computer vision tasks:
  • Image Binarization: The threshold operation is commonly used to convert grayscale images to binary (black and white) images. This can be useful in various applications, such as optical character recognition (OCR), where you want to separate text from the background.
  • Background Removal: If the foreground and background of an image have distinct brightness levels, the threshold operation can be used to separate them. This is often a preprocessing step in image segmentation tasks.
  • Edge Detection: By choosing an appropriate threshold value, the threshold operation can help highlight the edges of objects within an image. This can be useful in object detection and recognition tasks.
  • Noise Reduction: In some cases, the threshold operation can help reduce noise in an image. By converting the image to binary, minor variations in pixel values (which could be due to noise) are eliminated.
  • Simplifying Image Analysis: By reducing the complexity of the image data (from potentially millions of colors to just two), thresholding can make subsequent image analysis tasks more manageable.
