How to quantize colors in images online?

  • Add all files you want to quantize by drag and drop or click to select files.
  • Adjust the number of colors, dithering method, and tree depth.
  • Click on Quantize button to process and download the files.
  • You can click on reset button if you want to process new files.
What is color quantization?
  • Color quantization reduces the number of distinct colors in an image. This creates a posterize-like effect where smooth gradients become flat color areas.
  • It's useful for creating artistic effects, reducing file sizes, or preparing images for limited-color displays.
What is dithering?
  • Dithering simulates missing colors by mixing nearby colors in patterns. Floyd-Steinberg is the most common and produces smooth results.
  • Riemersma dithering uses a different algorithm that can work better for some images. No dithering gives sharp color boundaries.
